This is the question on most peoples minds when they decide to come to La Graciosa for the day or to spend their holiday on the island. The question when visiting such a small and unique island is if there will be many establishments where you can sit down to eat.

In the past, people on La Graciosa had fishing as the main activity from which they derived their income, but over the years, this activity has become secondary, giving way to tourism, which is what the island is currently experiencing in abundance. Proof of this is the variety of restaurants that exist.

Depending on how you have organized your day on the island, you will return to Caleta de Sebo at lunchtime, or possibly not…

For those who come to spend the day, relaxing on a beach, enjoying it to the fullest, and returning just in time to take the boat back to Lanzarote, your backpack should be filled with all the necessary provisions: water, snacks or anything else you might want … because on the beaches there are no bars or beach bars to buy from.

Are you looking to eat in a restaurant? A sandwich? You have to plan

If you don’t bring anything with you when you come by boat from Lanzarote, in the port of Caleta de Sebo there is a bakery where, in addition to pastries and bread, they sell bags of snacks, ready-made sausage sandwiches and cold drinks, so you can go out and spend the day on your bike, walking or in a Jeep Taxi to one of the beaches with all your supplies. There is always the village supermarkets as well where you can buy whatever you need.

For those who choose to come to La Graciosa , take a tour in a Jeep Taxi as soon as they arrive on the island to get to know it better; or visit a beach in the morning, at lunchtime they go to Caleta de Sebo to enjoy its sandy streets, visit the museum and eat in one of its restaurants.

In all of them you will be able to savour rice, octopus, wrinkled potatoes (speciality – ‘papas arrugadas’), or the local fish such as the ‘Vieja’, the bocinegro (seabreem), burrito, cabrilla (Grouper)… fish that you will not find in any other peninsulas or areas. Make no doubt about it you shouldn’t leave La Graciosa without trying one of them.
