If you are thinking of coming to the island of La Graciosa, you should know that this island has a very unique characteristic, apart from the unique beauty of its landscape, and that is that there is no asphalt on La Graciosa, which means that travelling by car is very limited.
This is due to the fact that the island was declared a Natural Park in 1986, which is why its conservation and care by the institutions and the locals, for whom their island is everything, is of the upmost importance. However, despite the fact that this situation can be limiting, there are several ways of getting around the island of La Graciosa in an eco-friendly way, without harming the natural environment.
Discover the island on foot
The island of La Graciosa is small and it is easy to walk around thanks to its wide paths and short distances. If you decide to walk, you can take the different routes from north and south depending on what you want to see. The advantage of walking around La Graciosa is that you will get a real feel of the character of the island, and you will be able to appreciate the different landscapes that La Graciosa has to offer.
For this type of walk, we recommend that you wear comfortable shoes, a cap and water to keep you hydrated. Although the distances are short, you won’t want to miss out on a nice stroll under the Canarian sun.
La Graciosa by bicycle
This island is the perfect place for any plan! If cycling is your thing and you like the independence that two wheels give you, this is the perfect opportunity for you! La Graciosa’s dirt roads are perfectly conditioned for cycling, so you can bring your own bike or rent one in Caleta de Sebo, and cycle around the island in a matter of hours.
The routes are easily identifiable and you’ll find signs indicating your location all along the way, so you’ll find it hard to get lost in this paradise, even if you wanted to!
If you want to rent your own bike, we encourage you to do so in Caleta de Sebo with prior reservation. It is also very cheap to rent a bike for the day, as it costs around 10 euros for a bike and helmet, which is a great advantage when it comes to exploring the island without spending a lot of money.
*If you want to bring your own bicycle you can do so at no extra cost with Líneas Romero, where you can transport it with you on the ferry to La Graciosa.

The comfort of 4×4 Jeeps, the most sought-after form of transport
There is no doubt that comfort often prevails above all else, and even more so when it comes to getting around an unknown island! If the above options aren’t for you, don’t worry, in La Graciosa there is a 4×4 taxi service that will take you to any point on the island in a matter of minutes.
This taxi service offers you two transport options:
- You can hire a taxi for a specific journey, there and back, and to the area of the island of your choice.
- If you want to see the island in a shorter period of time, a Jeep tour is the perfect option. This tour makes three stops and lasts about an hour and a half. We also recommend that you book the tour in advance, as demand varies, depending on the time of year there.
These are the three ways of getting around La Graciosa, whichever way you choose, you will have the great pleasure of enjoying a unique and wild island, with landscapes that you can appreciate on foot, by bicycle or from the comfort of four wheels.
