Sport and nature come together for another year in the great sporting event “Triatlon Desafio 8o Isla “, and the main protagonist is the privileged natural setting, the island of La Graciosa.

On the 9th and 10th of March the island will fill with participants, who for five days, will compete against the clock on dunes and beaches of golden sands in a unique, natural place, with the finish line being the sandy streets of Caleta de Sebo.

The sports events in which the participants compete against the clock for these two days are TRIATHLON CROSS and TRAIL for adults, and TRAIL KIDS, for children, now that as part of the 8TH ISLAND CHALLENGE kids of 5 – 16 years have their own competition – La Graciosa Trail Kids, with a route adapted to each age.

The 8th Island Challenge begins on Saturday 9th at 11 in the morning, with TRIATHLON CROSS, a race which consists of a 1000m swim, 20km on the bike and a 6km run.
In the afternoon it’s the turn of the kids with TRAIL KIDS. At 16h the kids between 5 and 10 years do the Chinijo circuit, 1000m (with their mother or father), and the elders, 11 to 16 years, the Chiquilin circuit, 2000m.

There is the possibility of entering just one race, but the champions (male and female) of the “Desafio“ will be participants in this race, those who obtain the best classification from the Triathlon Cross and Trail 31.

The collection of bibs and numbers for all events happens on Friday 8th March in the Town Hall of Lanzarote, Arrecife from 11 to 16h, and in the evening in Caleta de Sebo from 18.30 to 20.30. The organization hands over to each participant a “Guia de Conductas Medioambientales Desafio Octava Isla “, a guide which details the rules to follow in respect of a race in a Protected Natural Place.

The event reaches its 8th edition this year, and is organized by the Town Hall of Lanzarote, through the Island Sports Services. The number of entrants is limited and entrance closes on 27th Feb or before if the quota of participants is filled.
